Power restored to more than 2,600 people in Capitola

UPDATE 12:30 p.m. PG&E said the number of people without power in Capitola has been reduced from nearly 3,000 people to 280.

PG&E lists the estimated restoration time as 12:45 p.m. Maintenance crews tell KION the outage was caused by an overloaded circuit.

UPDATE 11:00 a.m. Traffic Management Incorporated tells KION that a widespread power outage in Capitola was caused by an overloaded circuit.

Crews are working to find the problem areas now, and there are multiple lines affected.

Some traffic lights are affected by the outage, including the intersection of 41st Avenue and Capitola Road.

Crews said it could be several hours before power is restored to the nearly 3,000 people affected.

PG&E said the outage started at about 9 a.m. and is expected to be restored at around 12:45 p.m.

PG&E said it is still investigating the cause of the outage.
