Five alpacas have died after being attacked by dogs
Five alpacas were killed and several others injured after being attacked by two dogs.
Nancy Cohen owns the alpacas and was devastated to hear about the attack.
She says she was out of town when the woman watching her property called to tell her seven of her 10 alpacas had been attacked.
The woman watching the property found the two dogs on the front porch with blood on their paws. They did have collars on and showed no aggression toward people.
The owners of the dogs were located and reportedly have been fined by animal control, but Cohen said the dogs will not be put down.
Cohen says the two other alpacas that were injured are in critical condition, and she’s not sure if they will make it.
All of the alpacas that were attacked were female, the three males were able to escape.
Cohen says while she’s devastated she does not want all blame to be put on the dogs’ owners, she just hopes a lesson is learned so this does not happen again.
Cohen also helps run a preschool on her property. The attack happened hours before the school was open.
She said she does not think any kids or people are in danger, but, again, hopes the owners watch their dogs much closer.
