Monterey County Sheriff’s Office warns of fake parking violation flyers

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said it has received reports of a fake parking violation flyer on a car.

Neighbors brought the flyers to the Sheriff’s Office, and it says even though the flyer looks like it could be from them, it is not.

The Sheriff’s Office said the flyer was attached to a car in Pajaro with a spray adhesive that was difficult to remove. Vehicle Abatement Officers have official tags they place on abandoned cars and provided an example of what they look like.

They say the flyer may have been a well-intentioned attempt to deal with abandoned or derelict cars, but they ask that people go through the proper channels.

To report a vehicle, you can call 831-755-3704 or report it online at https://www.montereysheriff.org/vehicle-tips/problemvehicle/.
