Wildfire near King City burns more than 2,000 acres
UPDATE 6/26/2019 3:00 p.m. The Lonoak fire near King City is now 100% contained, according to Cal Fire.
They said a power line/infrastructure caused the fire. It burned 2,546 acres.
UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: A wildfire near King City has burned more than 2,000 acres.
Cal Fire said the fire scorched 2,546 acres. It is 65 percent contained and forward spread has been stopped.
King City firefighters were also helping Cal Fire. The chief told KION he believes the fire was started in two areas by downed power lines.
“One where the lines were down and one a little farther east which I believe was from a spark because lines do that and started in a second spot, all from the same situation,” said King City Fire Chief Russ Nichols.
Cal Fire has not released an official cause of the fire.

A wildfire near King City has now burned 500 acres.
Cal Fire said the fire is 45 percent contained and the cause is still under investigation.
According to Cal Fire, units responded at 4:09 p.m. on Lonoak Road, three miles east of King City.
Four aircraft, two helicopters, nine fire engines, four dozers, three hand crews, a Battalion Chief and fire investigator were called to the scene.
As of 6:14 p.m., the fire had grown to 500 acres.
No firefighters have been hurt battling the flames.
Cal Fire is reminding the public about the importance of quickly reporting fires and asks the public to be specific when reporting the fire.

Cal Fire officials say two fires are burning outside of King City on Lonoak Road, east of Wild Horse Road.
Right now the fires are at 300 acres moving south, but it could grow to 1000 acres.
It’s 10 percent contained.
