Sheriff’s Office: Aptos resident shot man trying to break into home

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says a man who was shot multiple times in an Aptos home was trying to break in.

It happened around 3:40 a.m. on Thursday at a home on Cedar Street. The Sheriff’s Office got a 911 call from the resident about a man trying to break into the home.

They say the person who lived in the house fired multiple shots at the man as he was trying to break in, and they hit him several times.

The man was taken to a Bay Area trauma center and is expected to survive. Investigators say there was no prior relationship between the man and the occupant of the house.
