Drugs intercepted before being brought into Santa Cruz County Jail
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says it intercepted a drug load before it entered the jail.
On Tuesday, Justin Fenn, who had a warrant out for his arrest, turned himself in to Sheriff’s deputies. They say detectives heard of his plan to sneak items into the jail, so they got a search warrant to x-ray Fenn.
Investigators say he tried to sneak in drugs, tobacco, suboxone and needles. They found nearly two ounces of meth and heroin hidden in his body cavity.
The Sheriff’s Office says preventing the drugs from getting to the inmates likely saved lives.
