Bear cub euthanized in Oregon because it was too familiar with human interaction
Wildlife officials in Washington County, Oregon euthanized a bear cub Wednesday morning, and they say this outcome was the result of human interaction.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office shared the information on social media. Deputies were trying to get the bear cub to go back into the woods near Hagg Lake, but the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife decided to “lethally remove” it.
The wildlife experts say they could not relocate it because it was too used to human interaction and that too many people were feeding it.
Law enforcement had been getting calls about the bear since the beginning of June, and had warned the public to avoid the cub after they found selfies taken with it.
