72-year-old man killed following accident on Highway 1

UPDATE 6/5/2019 1:00 p.m. The victim of Tuesday’s fatal crash on Highway 1 in Marina is identified as 72-year-old Henry Heath of Monterey.

Heath’s car was parked on the shoulder of the Reservation Road on-ramp and a driver hit the car while entering the highway.

PREVIOUS STORY: The California Highway Patrol says alcohol or drugs did not play a role in a fatal crash on Highway 1 in Marina Tuesday morning.

CHP officials confirm a driver in a 2005 Subaru was getting on the Highway 1 on-ramp at Reservation Road when they slammed into a 2016 KIA parked on the shoulder.

The driver of the KIA was killed on impact. He’s been identified as a 72-year resident from Monterey.

Officers say it isn’t clear why he stopped on the side of the road. The driver of the Subaru faces charges of vehicular manslaughter.
