Man arrested for carjacking, robbery in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz Police arrested a man for carjacking and robbery after he crashed a stolen vehicle Saturday afternoon.

Police say suspect Angel Garibay crashed a stolen Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation vehicle on Branciforte Drive near Glen Canyon Road. They say they pulled Garibay from near the truck, which caught on fire.

He suffered significant injuries and was taken to a trauma center for treatment.

Police are asking any witnesses to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department Investigation Section by calling 831-471-1131 or 831-420-5820.
