Thousands of music and food lovers gather to take in BottleRock 2019
Northern California’s own BottleRock music and food festival wrapped up Sunday with thousands turning the Napa Valley Expo into a giant amusement park.
This year, organizers stepped up their sustainability game, hoping for a more environmentally friendly festival. From reusable cups for wines, to receptacles that break down, many seemed to embrace some of these new changes.
For the foodies, the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage brought out many big names to show off their skills. Antoni Porowski, Trisha Yearwood, Andrew Zimmern and many others crafted some special foods for the crowds. Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi’s performance on Saturday was canceled due to “travel issues.”
And of course for the music lovers, there was a diverse lineup for the 2019 event. Imagine Dragons, Logic, Pharrell, Carlos Santana, One Republic and Midland were just a few of the artists who took some of the six stages.
KION caught up with country music artists Midland after their performance. Midland first visited the Central Coast last year during the Cowboy Festival. The group said when they were performing at BottleRock, they imagined they were on the stage at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.
“There’s something about California crowds and I’m so not just saying this because we’re in California. It really is one of the all-time greatest places to play, anywhere. I don’t know what it is. People are just crazier here,” said Jess Carson. “They’re loose and having a good time, man!”And Sunday’s rain didn’t seem to keep people away. The crowds still came out to wrap up the festival with their photo worthy outfits.
While there’s no word on a lineup for next year just yet, officials did plant the bug for anyone wanting to attend the Sonoma Harvest Music Festival happening in September.
