First segment of Santa Cruz County rail trail complete
A portion of the new pedestrian and bike pathway near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is officially open to the public.
The trail leads from the Boardwalk to East Cliff Drive. It’s the first complete portion of the 32 mile rail trail.
The project to widen the pathway from four feet to 10 feet took about five months to complete and is open just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
The next part of the project is expected to break ground in fall of this year at the intersection of Bay and California Avenues.
