Police need help identifying car burglar at UC Santa Cruz
New surveillance photos have been released in the hopes that they help catch a suspected car burglar in Santa Cruz.
According to UC Santa Cruz police, several campus car burglaries have occurred locally since the beginning of April. The perpetrator(s) smashed car windows and took items left in plain view. Police said most of the burglaries were at the East Remote Parking lot, OPERS, the Arboretum and the Cookhouse.
UCSC Chief of Police Nader Oweis said police received two more reports of car burglaries Monday.
“Credit cards from one of the burglaries were used at a nearby store, which is how we now have photos of this person, ” Oweis said in a written statement.
Campus police advise the community to be vigilant and to let authorities know if they see anything suspicious. If you suspect your car may have been burglarized, call 831-459-2231, ext. 1.
