Santa Cruz County releases suicide prevention plan

The County of Santa Cruz is continuing work to combat a growing nationwide suicide epidemic.

The Santa Cruz County Suicide Prevention Task Force released a draft of its plan Monday. It focuses on prevention and intervention through new programs and services.

The task force said the suicide rate in the county is about 16 per 100,000 residents, compared to 10 statewide.

A town hall meeting will be held on May 16, from 5:30-7 p.m. at 1400 Emeline Avenue, Building K, Room 206-207 in Santa Cruz.
