UPDATE: Apology letter released for ‘Stop and frisk’ student inspection at North Monterey Co. High
UPDATE THURSDAY, 4/11/2019 9:30 p.m. An apology has been issued by one of the students inolved in the ‘Stop and frisk’ student inspection at North Monterey County High School.
The high school released the apology on its Facebook page Thursday night.
In the apology letter, the unnamed student says they did not write the letter telling students of the fake inspection, but did help hand it out.
Take a look at the text from the apology letter and the letter itself below:
“To whom it may concern, I am sorry for the confusion of the paper being distributed and contributing to putting our school’s staff on the public spotlight. I did not write the letter, however, I did distribute the paper and help contribute to the growing confusion. I did not expect the paper to be taken seriously as I thought the students at North County who read the letter would be able to recognize it as a simple practical joke. The forged letter that was being distributed around school got more attention than I initially thought and I did not think it would cause any publicity. I was wrong for distributing those papers around the campus, I should have been more considerate of those who may have been deceived by the letter. I am sorry for any lost productivity due to time spent on the investigation and for causing any confusion among my fellow peers. The prank was not expected to go this far, it was never intended to reach this level of attention. North Monterey County High School had absolutely no involvement in the creation of this fraudulent letter and was a practical joke that was authored by the students.
My Apologies,
A North County Condor”
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 10 5:43 a.m.
North Monterey High County High School posted on its Facebook that a letter calling for a school-wide male penis inspection is actually a prank made by students.
Among other things, it asks students that inspections be separated into “circumsized” and “uncircumsized.” The letter was made to look identical to the format of other notices sent out by the district. The letter includes a copy of the superintendent’s signature, as well.
“It’s inappropriate but whoever did it got away with it,” said Castroville resident, Ron Graham.
“Unless somebody took it seriously, and got anxiety and all of that, I think its hysterical,” said another resident, who wished to remain anonymous.
The school’s Facebook post revelaed a teacher had discovered the fake notice. The school goes on to say that the letter was spread through Snapchat. The school did not say who made the prank, but some have their ideas. “I think that it’s a prank that’ll normally go on with young guys. I don’t think it was the girls that did it,” said Graham.
The school said they’re investigating the incident. According to the school’s Facebook post, parents are encouraged to reach out to the school’s principal with any questions or concerns.
PREVIOUS STORY: School officials say a letter circulating the Castroville area demanding students participate in a penis inspection is fake.
A teacher at North Monterey County High School said students posted the unofficial letter on Snapchat.
“This appears to be a student prank and the involved parties used the North Monterey County Unified School District letterhead and copied the Superintendent’s signature from another document,” North Monterey County High School said in a written statement.
Here is the text from the fake letter:
This is a mandatory inspection for all male students. The mandatory health inspections will be conducted on May 5th, 2019. The inspections will be held from 2:40 up until 6:00. All male students who do not complete this inspection will need to complete an inspection held on June 17, 2019. If a student fails to complete either of these inspections, they will be forced to be “stop and frisked” and show the member of the facility that conducts this search his penis.
Please, note that uncircumcised students will have to report to the uncircumcised line. This line will see mandatory circumcisions as circumcision is a lead factor in unaccented deaths.
In order to pass, a student must complete three tasks: have foreskin cleanly cut off, pubescent hair must be under two inches, and recieve a penis vaccination. If these tasks are completed, the student will receive a pass. If these requirements are not met, the student will receive a fail.
*Note, Seniors who fail to complete a penis inspection will not graduate
If you have any questions or concerns about the inspection, contact Superintendent Yeater
North Monterey County High School Principal, Dr. Woods is investigating this matter.
