Arrest made in connection to January murder in Greenfield
Thursday morning, the South County Major Crimes Investigation Unit served a search warrant at four different locations. That led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man who detectives believe is connected to a January 13 murder in Greenfield.
Five suspects were taken into custody in late January for their suspected part in the murder of 19-year-old Charles Adolfo Jose. Now detectives believe with the arrest of 22-year-old Gustavo Garcia, they have caught every person responsible in the Greenfield murder.
Police say Garcia was illegally in possession of a gun that was possibly used in the January murder.
“A weapon was recovered from one of the locations in King City, and its being analyzed right now to compare if it’s related to the homicide that happened in Greenfield,” Detective Joshue Partida, with the Major Crimes Unit said.
Thursday morning’s search warrants were served in the 200 block of South Vanderhurst, 600 block of Bishop and the 100 block of River in King City. In addition to a search warrant served in the city of Marina.
Garcia was arrested on River Drive in King City.
Police arrested five other people in late January in this gang related murder investigation, which is part of what led to Thursday morning’s sting.
“They were interviewed and certain information was given by them as well as more forensic techniques going through cellphones and developing information through other electronic devices,” Partida said.
Detectives say this is another step in lowering crime in Greenfield and King City.
“We’re definitely heading in the right direction putting people away that are terrorizing the community and preventing people from being good witnesses because they’re so scared of gang members. It’s days like this we can prove what we’re saying,” Partida said.
