Scotts Valley: Two arrested, driver still at large, following pursuit and crash

Police and Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a driver who escaped after crashing a car during a pursuit Sunday.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says deputies tried to stop the car on Mt. Hermon Road around 6 p.m. Sunday. The driver failed to stop, and led deputies on a short pursuit until crashing the car on Whispering Pines Drive.

Three people jumped from the car and attempted to run.

Scotts Valley police officers assisted, and two passengers were arrested. Police say one passenger was carrying a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

Residents in the area were advised to remain in their homes while deputies, police, and CHP officers looked for the driver.

As of early Monday morning, the driver had not been located.
