Greenfield man gets 4 years in prison for having sex with child

A Greenfield man was sentenced to four years in prison for having a sex with a child.

According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, Jose Zarco , 44, lived with the victim and her mother between October. 2015 through March 2016.

The DA’s Office said the victim was under the age of 16 at the time. The victim said she had sexual intercourse with Zarco numerous times when her mom was not home. The girl said she consented to the sexual intercourse with Zarco , but later denied it because she didn’t want to get him in trouble. However, during an interview with law enforcement, Zarco admitted that he engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl.

In addition to his prison sentence, Zarco is required to register as a sex offender. Zarco was also ordered to not have any contact with the victim for 10 years.
