Santa Cruz robbery suspect arrested

The Santa Cruz Police Department arrested a man accused of trying to rob a Santa Cruz gas station.

Police say Noland West, 27, entered the Shell gas station at 801 Water Street on February 28th, at around 1:40 a.m.. West allegedly pulled a bandana over his face, demanded money, and touched his firearm to the clerk’s forehead. When the clerk “recognized” the firearm was a BB gun, he used pepper spray. West fled the scene on his bike.

West was identified through security footage and “hundreds of county booking photos.” On March 11, officers arrested him after, they say, he tried to flee. He is charged with robbery, resisting arrest, probation violation, and outstanding warrants for burglary and a narcotic violation.
