Welfare check leads to discovery of natural gas in home
Pacific Grove Police say a large natural gas emergency may have been averted and a woman’s life saved because of the discovery of natural gas during a welfare check.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Miles Avenue when a neighbor told them they heard sounds of distress coming from an elderly person’s home at around 10:40 a.m. Monday.
When an officer got there, a woman was lying on the floor near the front door inside the home. They say she was conscious, but not able to respond to the officer. When a second officer arrived, the first decided to force entry.
Inside, they smelled natural gas and were able to get the woman away from the house.
