Man enters plea for child sex abuse charges
A man pled no contest to charges of sexual abuse and rape of a family member over a period of 11 years.
According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, on March 1, 42-year-old Richard Murray entered no contest pleas to nine counts of child sexual abuse, three counts of oral copulation, one count of sodomy, one count of sexual penetration, one count of forcible rape and three counts of lewd and lascivious acts.
The District Attorney said Murray abused a family member under the age of 14 from 1999 to 2008. The abuse started when the victim was four-years-old.
According to the District Attorney, “Murray also admitted a special allegation for a prior conviction of child sexual abuse. The disclosure by the victim and investigation by Marina Police Department in 2013.”
The District Attorney’s Office brought Murray back from Oregon where he was serving a six-year-old sentence for child sex abuse in 2011.
Murray be will sentenced on April 4th. He’s expected to be sentenced to a stipulated term of 40 years in prison and register as a sex offender.
