Expect delays on Highway 17 as crews try and retrieve car involved in wreck

UPDATED 5:39 A.M.

Both lanes now open after a car plunged 100 feet down a cliff off Highway 17 near Summit Road.

Minor injuries were reported as three people survived the accident that took place around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

CHP said crews will attempt to retrieve the car Monday morning.

They also said commuters on northbound Highway 17 should expect delays as crews try and remove the vehicle.

A car went partially down the cliff off Highway 17, just North of the summit, Sunday. CHP dispatch told KION that they received calls about the crash at around 5:30 p.m. They are not reporting if there are any injuries.

The northbound right lane remains closed, as of 6:50 p.m., but the left lane has been reopened.
