Rock, mud slide on Hwy 17
UPDATE: 2/13/2019 2:23 p.m. A rock and mudslide shut down a portion of Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the slide occurred in the southbound lanes near Sugarloaf Road around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
CHP said one of the southbound lanes is now open.
Motorists are using the turn out to by-pass this closed area.
This section of highway is expected to be fully open by 6 pm, weather permitting.
