San Benito Co. Sheriff’s Office: Active shooter call at school board meeting investigated as “hoax”

UPDATE 9:22 p.m.: The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a call about an “active shooter” at a school board meeting as a hoax.

The Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating “what seems to be a hoax” and there is no indication there is a real threat.

All school board members are safe.

Hollister Police are sending officers to the school district office after reports of someone with a weapon outside the building.

During a livestream video of a school board meeting at the district office on Cienega Road on Tuesday night, someone can be heard cautioning people about a person with a shotgun.

Hollister Police told KION they are sending officers to the scene, but don’t have many details at this time.

A witness told KION people in the meeting are being let out of the building one by one.
