UPDATE: Boyfriend pleads not guilty following deadly shooting in Aptos

UPDATE: 2/6/2019 10:03 a.m. The man accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend at their Aptos home pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday.

Patrick Aaron Collins, 36, is accused of killing 61-year-old Victoria May Aless Seidlinger at their home in the 3100 block of Trout Gulch Road around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 30. He’s also accused of stabbing Seidlinger’s ex husband.

All three people involved were living on the property together.

Collins suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and was wearing a sling in court.

Collins bail was set at $1,000,000. A preliminary examination is set for March 11.

PREVIOUS STORY: 2/1/2019: The victim in the fatal Aptos shooting has been identified as 61-year-old Victoria May Aless Seidlinger of Aptos.

36-year-old Patrick Aaron Collins is now in jail on murder charges with a bail set at $750,000.

Seidlinger was married to the stab victim, but separated. She and Collins were dating. All three people were living on the property together.

Detectives are continuing to evaluate evidence as the investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: 1/31/19 5:56 p.m.: Thirty six-year-old Patrick Collins has been identified as the suspect in the Wednesday shooting. He was released from the hospital and is currently being interviewed by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. Collins is charged with murder.

UPDATE: 1/31/19 10:41 a.m. : A woman is dead after a shooting involving three people at a home in Aptos.

It all happened at the 3100 block of Trout Gulch Road around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A call from inside the house informed the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office that there had been a shooting.

Upon arrival deputies located three victims. A man and a woman were suffering from gunshot wounds and another man suffered stab wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both men are in the hospital in serious condition.

The sheriff’s office told KION the hospitalized shooting victim is in custody for murder and will be booked upon his release.

Investigators are not sure how this situation escalated but said all three people lived on a property together.

“We’re interviewing the two that have been transported to the hospital, and we have our crime scene unit here that is now processing the crime scene as well,” said Ross.

“You’re never ready to hear something happening in your own neighborhood. I mean, it’s always a shock,” said Thomas Bloink, who lives off Trout Gulch Road.

Deputies had to force themselves into the house where they found multiple weapons. Now, they are looking for motives and any evidence that may help them understand what happened here.

There sheriff’s office says there is no danger to the public, but residents are still trying to cope with the tragedy.

“I don’t know what to say. It’s sad. It’s sad,” said Bloink. “We live in such a great place, I mean we live in paradise here.”

The information given to KION by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is subject to change pending the investigation.

At least one person is dead after a shooting in Aptos.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, multiple people were shot on Trout Gulch Road around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed one person was killed.

The Sheriff’s Office said there is no outstanding threat to the public.

The Sheriff’s Office is calling this a “major incident.”
