“Selfieville” brings more than just a cool place for pictures in Monterey
Giving back to the Central Coast community through selfies?
That’s exactly what one new attraction will bring to the area come February 2nd.
It’s quite the sight when you walk into Monterey’s Golden State Theatre for “Selfieville.”
It’s the latest attraction that will now occupy california’s first theatere. You’re greeted with a 3D lightshow
“We always already in the theatre produce over 90 rock shows, comedies and things like that, but we wanted something for the daytime, something for the family,” says theatre Owner Lori Lochtefeld.
And that’s how selfieville was dreamed up. The point of the experience is to take some awesome pictures in out-of-this-world rooms.
But Lochtefeld says more than just allowing people to snap a great memory, “selfieville” gives back to the community.
“So we decided that 25 percent of the net profits for selfieville would go to non-profits working with foster care children, in which kinship center is going to be one of those recipients.”
And you won’t have to scramble to get to this experience. It will be a permanent fixture that will be open most days, except when the theatre has shows scheduled.
This will help occupy the theatre for a good chunk of the year.
The creators hope those who visit leave influenced to do something good.
“You’re going into different experiences, you’re having different feelings, and the idea is that we want to inspire you. When you leave, you feel ‘wow we saw something different, something unique and that you feel inspired to do whatever it is that you want to do in the future,” says Lochtefeld.
And a cute picture for your instagram or facebook…well, that’s just the cherry on top.
“Selfieville” opens to the public on February 2nd, and you can already buy tickets online.
