Man attacks officer with scissors in Santa Cruz
A transient was arrested for the second time in a week after attacking an officer with scissors in Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz police responded to a carjacking in the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue Thursday morning.
According to police, the suspect, 31-year-old Jonathan Saldana threw an object at a passing motorist and when the driver stopped to argue Saldana got inside the truck.
A CSO officer intervened and Saldana got out of the truck.
“He then became agitated and assaulted the CSO with a pair of scissors while screaming “shoot me.” Two additional SCPD officers were injured in the process of detaining the suspect,” said SCPD.
Saldana went to jail for vandalism, carjacking, resisting arrest, causing injury to an officer and felony for committing a secondary offense while out for a primary offense.
Saldana was also arrested on Jan. 17 for felony vandalism and was released on his own recognizance.
