Seaside women convicted of attempted murder, arson, and other charges

Two Seaside women could be sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of attempted murder, arson, elder abuse and robbery.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office says Jennifer Vasquez, 35, began harassing a former boyfriend and his mother and grandmother in 2015.

At one point, Vasquez came to his home with Victoria Ramirez, 20, beat up the man’s new girlfriend and tried to set the house on fire. Prosecutors said she specifically threatened the older woman, who is confined to a wheelchair.

Prosecutors said she returned wIth an armed male accomplice about a month later and robbed the home at gunpoint.

The male suspect has not been identified, and the gun has not been recovered.

Vasquez and Ramirez will be sentenced February 21, 2019. The convictions carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
