CHP: Santa Cruz teens caught with loaded gun, billy club

Two teens were arrested for possession of a loaded gun and other weapons in Santa Cruz.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol spotted a car with headlights off around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The officers pulled the 16-year-old driver over on Averitt Street, north of Mission.

“During the stop, officers found weapons inside the car and discovered a loaded handgun in the waistband of a juvenile male passenger,” said Officer Sam Courtney.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI and possession of a billy club. The passenger was arrested for carrying a concealed loaded gun.
