Train hits car on railroad tracks
A train hit a car that was on the railroad tracks at Alta Street and Foletta Road, north of Gonzales.
The crash happened just before 7 p.m., Saturday night.
California Highway Patrol tells KION that no one was in the vehicle when the crash happened. They are still investigating if anyone was in the car before the crash, or if this was an abandoned vehicle.
CHP says the initial report mentioned passengers out of the vehicle. When officers arrived, there was no one on scene, so they are classifying the accident as a “hit and run.”
It is not yet known if there are any injuries.
The train stopped after the collision.
