Salinas Police investigating Granada Avenue attempted murder
UPDATE 12/9/2018 4:33 p.m. Salinas Police are calling a Saturday night shooting attempted murder.
The 29-year-old victim did not give any information to officers, so they are asking any witnesses to come forward.
At the scene near Granada Avenue and Tampico Avenue, officers only found shell casings after a ShotSpotter activation.
The victim’s mother called police a half hour later from the 1200 block of Granada Avenue saying her son got home with a gunshot wound.
He has non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas Police are investigating a Saturday night shooting near Granada Avenue and Tampico Avenue.
Police say they responded to a ShotSpotter activation in that area at around 9:45 p.m.
When they arrived, they found shell casings in the road, but nothing else at the scene.
About a half hour later, officers received a call from a woman who said her son had come home with a gunshot wound.
They responded to the home on the 1200 block of Granada Avenue, but the woman’s son was not cooperative.
He was taken to the hospital, but did not make a statement or give police any information.
