Salinas man arrested for touching children at daycare
UPDATE (12/05/18 10:37 p.m.): A Salinas daycare worker now behind bars after police say he was inappropriately touching children he was caring for.
Police say on Nov. 21, they were called out to the Carrillo family’s daycare on the 300 block of San Miguel Avenue, which is close to a school and a park.
“It’s just sad the way our world is going,” said Geanne Key, a Salinas resident who lives nearby. “People don’t take into account how other people are feeling or what they’re going to do to somebody as far as emotional or physical.”
After a lengthy investigation, police had enough evidence to arrest 73-year-old Casimiro Carrillo. Investigators are accusing him of lewd acts with an eight and nine year old.
“Pretty surprising. I guess it’s a concern and it’s an awareness and it’s kind of a warning to keep staying with your children, be aware,” said Carlos Delapaz, a parent.
One of the victim’s parents, who did not want to be on camera and who wanted to remain anonymous to shield her child from the story, said she witnessed the lewd act. She said she busted through the door, took her child and called police.
Parents and grandparents in the area say they are always concerned about their kids’ safety.
“I try to, either me or my wife, we try to pick (our daughter) up,” said Delapaz. “We try to always stay with her, we don’t let her walk outside, we’re always aware where she’s at, it’s very important.”
“I live by the park, by the school. And I have to constantly watch all the kids all the time because you see people doing illegal things at the park,” said Key, who is a grandmother to 11 grandchildren. “The police just can’t keep up with everything.”
Because Carrillo had access to children at the daycare, police are asking anybody with information to contact them with the contact info below.
“Watch your kids, and you’ve got to…don’t be afraid to investigate, ask questions,” said Key.
The parent of the victim said she is very sad for both the Carrillo family and the families affected by this.

On Nov. 21 Salinas police officers were called to the 300 block of San Miguel Avenue on suspicion that Casimiro Carrillo was involved in lewd acts with an 8 and 9-year-old child.
