Fire destroys Felton home

An early morning fire completely destroyed a home in Felton Wednesday.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the house fire happened on Huckleberry Circle.

“Given the heavily wooded nature of the area, Deputies quickly went door to door and alerted sleeping neighbors to the fire and began voluntary evacuations on the homes closest to the fire,” said the sheriff’s office.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the flames.

Investigators don’t believe the fire was intentionally started.

No injuries were reported.

“One of the factors that prevented this fire from becoming a larger disaster was that the effected property had been largely cleared of brush a few days prior,” said the sheriff’s office.”It goes without saying that with the ongoing tragedy of the Butte County and Southern Californian fires, wildfire response has been on the forefront of many first responder’s minds, and the Sheriff’s Office took the response to this morning’s fire very seriously.”
