Caballero wins 12th Senate District Seat
A victory for Anna Caballero who campaigned to win the open 12th Senate District seat.
According to the California Secretary of State’s website, Caballero won by 6,181 votes.
Her opponent, Madera County supervisor Rob Poythress conceded issuing a Facebook post saying in part: “Although there are still tens of thousands of votes to count, it’s evident that Anna Caballero has won the election and I would like to congratulate her and wish her much success representing SD12 and the issues that we face. Late votes almost always lean toward the Democrat candidate and that will be the case here.”
Caballero followed that statement with her own saying: “”I want to thank the hundreds of volunteers and supporters who helped us reach out and listen to voters across the six counties which comprise the 12 Senate District.”
“The outcome tells me the message and vision of our campaign was the right one for rural California and the district’s voters.”
“I will work hard to make sure that the needs and interests of rural California on health care access, education, clean water and clean air, affordable housing, and agricultural production are taken seriously by the legislators and politicians in Sacramento, most of whom represent big cities.”
Caballero says some of the issue she will focus on include health care access, clean water and affordable housing.
