Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident around 11:30 p.m..

Early reports indicated the gunman threw smoke bombs into the bar before opening fire, but that was not immediately confirmed. According to one witness, the suspect fired as many as 30 shots.

According to the bar’s website, a “College Country” night was being held at the bar at the time of the shooting.
