Anzar fire near Aromas 100% contained
AROMAS, CALIF. (KION-TV) UPDATE: 7/26/22 7:12 p.m.-The Anzar Fire that started Thursday near Aromas is now 100% contained, according to CAL FIRE BEU. The acreage remains at 104.
Crews will be on-site performing suppression repairs and hazard tree removal for a week. Firefighters will also be looking for hot spots so if you go into the burn area, be careful.

Two structures have been destroyed, and the cause is still being investigated.
Firefighters continue mopping up and patrolling the fire line. Crews are also still working to remove hazard trees.
There are still two engines and a hand crew assigned to the fire.
UPDATE: 7/25/22 7:12 a.m. Containment grows on the Anzar Fire as crews are starting to get a handle on a fire that once had people scrambling for safety.
Cal Fire BEU reports the fire is now 85% contained and is still at 104 acres burned.
Hazardous trees continue to be removed as crews are mopping up and putting out any spot fires.
7/24/22 2:07 p.m. All evacuation orders and warnings issued following the Anzar Fire have been lifted, according to Cal Fire.
Cal Fire BEU is reporting significant progress on the Anzar Fire as of Sunday morning, thanks to the humidity in the area. The fire is at 80% containment.
Crews on Sunday were working to remove hazardous trees and focused on the area of Anzar Road.
The goal is to remove eucalyptus trees and assist utility company PG&E so they can release mandatory evacuations.
AROMAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- UPDATE: 7/23/22 10 a.m.: Cal Fire is reporting containment on the Anzar Fire burning near Aromas has increased while confirming a home was destroyed in the fire.
Cal Fire CZU said another outbuilding was also destroyed, but there were no injuries to civilians.
The Anzar Fire has so far burned 104 acres and is 60% contained. PG&E crews are on site today removing some of the eucalyptus in the area that has caused problems for firefighters trying to tame this wildfire that started July 21.
Cal Fire also confirmed to KION that a first responder was injured during the scramble to put this fire out, but that individual suffered a minor injury that didn't require them to be hospitalized.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation
UPDATE July 22, 2022, at 2:06 p.m.-- CAL FIRE is saying the Anzar Fire is now 50% contained. The fire is still burning at 101 acres.
CAL FIRE is saying the Anzar Fire is 50 acres in the north and is contained and is 101 acres in the south and is still burning. The fires are burning off Anzar Road and Forest Road, west of Aromas in San Benito County.
The Anzar Fire is two fires, one burning in the north and one in the south, says CAL FIRE. The fire in the north has been contained, but the south is 50% contained and is still burning with a moderate rate of spread.
CAL FIRE said this incident started at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. CAL FIRE said the southern fire quickly spread through eucalyptus groves.
Evacuation orders have been issued for Forest Lane, according to CAL FIRE.
Evacuation warnings have been issued for properties on Highway 129, Forest Road, School Road, Anzar Road, and Harlands Way.
The San Benito Sheriff's Office said they are helping evacuate areas around Highway 101, Highway 129, Anzar Road, Searle Road, School Road and Forest Road.
Highway 129 at Rogge Lane is also closed, according to our reporter on the scene.
CAL FIRE said their goal is to contain the fire burning south before it jumps the highway. The fire was wind-driven at first, but winds are now blowing 5-7 miles.
The fire destroyed one structure, and four are immediately threatened.
Anzar High School will be an evacuation center, and it is located at 2000 San Juan Highway. According to the Red Cross, thirty people have been displaced due to the fire.
Animal control is bringing portable kennels for evacuees.
No injuries have been reported. The cause is being investigated.

Two fires are burning in Aromas and each is two to three acres with a slow rate of spread, according to CAL FIRE BEU.
There fires are both on Anzar Road and an air attack has been requested.
No closures or evacuations have been ordered yet. This fire is being called the AnzarFire.
