One person dead after fatal crash
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) —
UPDATE: The man accused of DUI and causing a deadly crash in Salinas last Friday night has pleaded not guilty, according to Monterey County Superior Court records.
18-year-old Carmel resident Jacques Clarke had his arraignment Monday.
38-year-old Rosie Figueroa, from Salinas, was killed after her car was rear-ended by Clarke on David Road while Clarke was reportedly driving at a high speed.

On Friday night at around 11:30 p.m. officers from the Salinas Police Department and California Highway Patrol responded to a two car crash on the corner of Davis Rd. and W. Acacia St.
Officials found a 2015 Mazda 6 with major damage and a 2012 Toyota Camry overturned through a residential fence.
According to CHP, the Mazda, driven by 18-year-old Carmel resident Jacques Clarke, was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Davis Rd. near the rear of the Toyota, driven by Rosie Figueroa.
Clarke collided behind the Figueroa causing the Toyota to spin out of control. The driver's side impacted a large tree as the Toyota overturned.
Figueroa sustained fatal injuries and pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger was transported to the Natividad Medical Center with major injuries. Clarke was evaluated for DUI and arrested.
While the Salinas Police were on scene assisting with lane closure traffic, an unrelated driver collided with an unoccupied patrol vehicle. The driver was evaluated for DUI and arrested.
