WALTERBORO, S.C. (AP) — Disbarred South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh has pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting his wife and son. His defense lawyers agreed on Wednesday to ask the judge to deny him bond, saying he can’t afford to post it anyway. The defense and prosecutors also have agreed to keep the evidence secret amid widespread news media attention. Murdaugh’s lawyers say he wants a speedy trial because he believes the killer or killers are still at loose. The prosecution rejected that claim, saying all all evidence points to his guilt in the shootings.
