Mexican Independence Day to be celebrated on Central Coast, Sunday

The Central Coast is getting ready to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, tomorrow, Sunday, September 16.

In Salinas, the 2018 El Grito Festival will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. on E. Alisal Street.

The event, hosted by the Cultural Committee of Salinas, will be between S. Madeira Avenue and S. Filice Street.

The Committee says there will be multiple music performances, including “a special presentation by popular artist, El 43.” In a release, the committee’s President, Sergio Sanchez, says “we are so excited to host this year’s El Grito Festival and provide this great opportunity to showcase local businesses and musical talents to families in the Central Coast.”

There will also be a celebration in Watsonville, Sunday.

There will be road closures from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on:

– Main Street between Beach and Maple Avenue

– Peck Street between Union and Main Street

King City is having their El Grito festival at the fairgrounds.
