On Thursday, the president of the Alisal High Skate Club, Antonio Daniel Duarte, brought his members to the skate park to learn some tricks, not realizing an attack had occurred there a month ago.
“A lot of other people want to do it too, but they’re afraid of it,” he said. “So I thought if people are in a bigger group skating, then they’d feel more comfortable.”
Duarte says so far, they all feel pretty safe at the skate park despite the recent attack, but they say there is strength in numbers.
“When people are in bigger groups, then they work together safely,” said Duarte.
“Yeah, I go out with a group because you don’t what is going to happen or anything, you know?” said Osimar Reyes, a skater. “But it’s safe. I’ve been here alone a lot of times, it’s safe. Nothing has happened bad.”
