7.8 earthquake strikes off coast of Fiji

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit off the coast of Fiji around 8:50 a.m. Thursday.

According to the USGS, the quake was 71 miles from Suva, Fiji.

The countries impacted are Fiji and Tonga.

The National Weather Service said a Tsunami hazard is not in place.
