Suspect tries to get Santa Cruz teen in his car

The Santa Cruz Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout after a suspect tried to lure a teen girl into his car.

The incident occurred in the area of Bay and King Street on Friday, Aug. 31.

A 14-year-old girl told SCPD that she noticed a suspicious car following her as she walked home from Santa Cruz High School.

“The suspect in the car had followed the teenage girl and on two occasions told her to get in his car,” said SCPD.

The suspect’s car is described as a gold or silver Toyota Corolla.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 18-25-years-old, with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing a white t-shirt, and has a tattoo on his left forearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
