Deputies arrest three suspected mail thieves in Carmel

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people suspected in a string of mail thefts in Carmel Valley. Victoria Knowles, Russel Keene and Kevin Easter were arrested last week after a resident reported seeing the three breaking into mail boxes.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies found a car with the mail addressed to 37 people inside. They also found a sub-machine gun that had the orange tip painted black to match the rest of the gun.

All three were booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property, theft of mail, as well as drug and weapons charges.

Deputies said residents between the 18000 and 26000 block of Cachagua Road, the 80s block of Asoleado Road or the 1 to 110 block of Trampa Canyon in Carmel should contact the Sheriff’s Office to if any of the recovered mail is yours.
