Teen pleads not guilty to DUI fatal in Carmel Valley
UPDATE 8/21/2018 3:41 p.m.: A Carmel Valley teenager accused of a deadly DUI crash, made her first court appearance on Tuesday.
18-year-old Margot McNally is accused of speeding and driving drunk on Carmel Valley Road, when she allegedly crashed head-on into another car.
A 16-year-old passenger in her vehicle, Annabelle Vanderbroucke, died from her injuries days after the crash. The 69-year-old woman in the other car was also brought to the hospital for her injuries. McNally also suffered injuries and showed up in court using a wheelchair.
McNally pleaded not guilty to vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, two counts of DUI causing injury and there were two enhancements for causing great bodily injury.
The judge ordered McNally to wear an alcohol monitoring device and not drink.
McNally will be back in court on September 18 to set a preliminary hearing.

7/19/2018 1:52 p.m. A teenage girl will now be charged with gross vehicular manslaughter after a passenger in her car died in a crash while she was driving drunk.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Margot McNally was speeding and drunk driving in a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder on Carmel Valley Road when she crashed head on into a white GMC Suburban Thursday night.
CHP said the GMC’s engine compartment caught fire.
McNally, her unconscious 16-year-old passenger and the woman inside the SUV, 69-year-old Sarah Coleman,were all transported to Natividad hospital.
McNally’s passenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and died from her injuries on July 18. She’s been identified as 16-year-old Annabelle Vanderbroucke of Carmel Valley.
McNally was released from Stanford University Medical Center on Tuesday, July 17 with a broken tailbone.
CHP said they are working with the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of the Gross Vehicular Manslaughter charge against Margot McNally.
“We are working with Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) to determine where Margot McNally and her 16 year old passenger were able to obtain the alcohol,” said Officer Jessica Madueno.
