Salinas Police to be featured on television show “Live PD”
The Salinas Police Department is driving into living rooms across the country.
Approved by the Salinas City Council, Tuesday, the police department is slated to join “Live PD,” a real-time show airing on A&E following law enforcement crews as the show airs. There is only a slight delay before being seen by the viewing audience.
“Something that is so horrific, or egregious, or a piece of an investigation that is very sensitive that would need to be protected, there is opportunity to remove it. But other than that, it is live,” Salinas Police Chief Adele Frese, said.
Frese says she was approached by the show last October.
“(Police department) staff at the top, initially, the big eyes,” Frese said. “We realize that while we are a little older than the average officer, we have to stretch ourselves too. We have to keep things real and keep them fresh.”
The agreement says filming is proposed to begin February 11th, 2019. Frese tells KION the camera crews could be with our officers on the street, indefinitely, if they maintain a good relationship with the show.
SPD, who has already had some TV time on “Cops,” is getting prepared for another turn in the spotlight
“(It helps people) better understand how we do our job, why we do our job, why we do the things we do. If we do some silly things along with way, that’s ok,” Frese said.
