Firefighters battling fire in San Martin, Multiple structures destroyed

UPDATE 7/26/18 1:18 p.m.: Multiple structures including a home have been destroyed by a fire in San Martin.

Officials with Santa Clara County Cal Fire said the fire started at Monterey Road and Church Avenue after 4 p.m. It has burned 20 acres and is 85 percent contained.

There are no reported injuries and no mandatory evacuations. Some people with livestock were voluntarily leaving.

One helicopter was involved in the fire fight.

Multiple agencies responded including Cal Fire, Santa Clara County, Santa Clara Co. Fire District, San Jose, City of Santa Clara, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Milpitas, as well as CHP, Morgan Hill Police, Santa Clara County Sheriff and PG&E.

All lanes of southbound Highway 101 are back open.

Firefighters are battling a fire that temporarily shut down a stretch of Highway 101 in San Martin.

According to the Gilroy Fire Department, the fire is burning at Llagas and Church Avenue.

Crews from Gilroy, Calfire, Morgan Hill and San Jose are helping fight the fire.

As of 6:46 p.m. Wednesday, The California Highway Patrol said both lanes of Southbound Highway 101 were back open.

The fire spread to at least three structures including a greenhouse.

One structure has been damaged.
