Drunk driver arrested in Hollister, cases of butane found in car
A man previously investigated on suspicion of operating an illegal Butane Honey Oil lab was arrested in Hollister for drunk driving.
On July 16, an officer with the Hollister Police Department pulled over 43-year-old Juan Vasquez and two minors for a traffic violation. The officer suspected Vasquez was driving under the influence and found two full cases of butane in his car.
“Butane, especially in this high quantity is often used to extract (THC) from marijuana plants,” said Sgt. D. Pershall.
HPD said the two 17-year-olds got out of the car and refused to listen to the officers orders. They were detained and their parents were called to the location.
Vasquez was arrested for driving under the influence, child endangerment, committing a felony while out on bail, driving while his license is suspended and possessing more than 600 ml of Butane.
The two teens were charged with obstructing an officer and released to their parents.
