One killed, one arrested in Salinas stabbing

A stabbing in Salinas has left a man dead and landed another in jail.

At 11:20 Wednesday morning, Salinas Police were called to a disturbance on the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue.

“When officers arrived, they found a victim that had been stabbed in the back and another male there that was said to be the suspect,” said Salinas Police Investigations Sgt. Chris Lane.

The victim was 48-year old Salinas resident Ramon Espinoza Ochoa who came to clean the property. He came with a 45-year old woman who was also attacked by the suspect with a cell phone. Salinas PD says the suspect is 18-year old field worker Brayan Uriel Parra who lives in the house.

“He was detained and brought down to the police station and we’re in the process of interviewing him and other witnesses,” said Lane.

Despite several people being at the house during the incident, Salinas Police say putting together this puzzle could be tricky.

“Their degree of what they saw occur is up and down the scale so we’re still trying to interview those people as well so we have a good picture of what may have occurred, according to what they saw or heard,” said Lane.

Parra was booked into Monterey County Jail. He’s being charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
