Caught on Camera: Woman rescued, car in canal
A woman nearly lost her life from driving through the storms that hit the Valley on Monday.
The woman’s car somehow ended up submerged with her inside of it near Alma School Road and Loop 202 Red Mountain.
The Mesa Fire and Medical crews quickly pulled the woman out of the water as she was losing oxygen.
Paramedics said the woman was only able to breathe for a brief period of time through the air pocket in the flooded car. They performed life-saving measures on her and transported her to a nearby hospital.
“He was reaching in to try to feel to see if anyone was in there. And the woman who was inside grabbed hold of his wrist. He wasn’t expecting that at all. He was like, ‘We have a live patient in here,'” said Keven Braegger, who recorded the rescue on camera.
The woman was listed in stable condition and is expected to be OK, according to paramedics.
