King City teacher arrested for lewd acts with student
A King City teacher was arrested for lewd acts with a student and for giving the minor drugs.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a 16-year-old high school student earlier in the week.
The teacher, 29-year-old Jennifer Suzanne Jones was arrested at her home in the 600 block of Heirloom Place, Thursday.
Jones taught at Pinnacle Academy Charter School, an independent studies program in King City.
“Our investigation revealed that the relationship began in November of 2017 and continued until June of 2018. The relationship was sexual in nature between Jones and the victim,” Commander John Thornburg said.
Jones is no longer an employee of the South Monterey County Joint Union High School District. Investigators don’t think any of the sexual activity occurred on school property.
It’s unknown at this time if Jones had inappropriate relations with other students.
Commander Thornburg told KION Jones also gave the teen boy marijuana on several occasions.
Jones was arrested and transported to the Monterey County Jail. Her bail has been set to $300,000.
KION’s Ashley Keehn will have more at 5 and 6 p.m.
