Wanted gang member arrested in Salinas

A wanted gang member was arrested in Salinas over the weekend.

The Salinas Police Department’s Violence Suppression Unit was looking for Omar Ramirez and found him on Hemingway and Boronda around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Ramirez had a felony no bail warrant for his arrest since March, 2014.

“Ramirez, a registered Salinas East Market St. Norteno, had an arrest warrant for a failure to appear for possession for sales of amphetamines, transport, sale, distribution of control substances and participation in a criminal street gang,” said Sgt. G Lauricella.

VSU officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested Ramirez. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
